When the rope is covered

Hawaiian Hula Skirt

You can learn to dance the hula, but it just doesn't look right unless you're wearing a Hawaiian hula skirt. Traditionally, the hula skirt was made from long grasses, but you can make one much easier out of raffia (and it'll be less itchy too!).

Raffia is a soft, natural fiber timberland oxfords that's used in many craft projects. You'll find it in craft stores in a variety of colors, so you can decide whether you want to make a hula skirt that looks like real grass or something more colorful. Once you make this simple skirt, all that's timberland men's 6 inch left is to start dancing.

What You'll NeedRopeGreen raffia

How to Make a Hawaiian Hula SkirtStep 1: Measure the rope around your waist and add a few extra inches. Cut the rope this size.

Step cheap timberland boots 2: Take a piece of green raffia, and hang it from the rope so the ends are even. Tie timberland men's chukka a knot to hold the raffia in place.

Step 3: Keep adding and tying pieces of raffia onto the rope until it looks like a grass skirt.

Step 4: When the rope is covered (except for the extra inches), tie it around your waist.

Now it's time for hula dancing!

The hula is a dance with hand movements that tell a story. You may not have classes in your area to learn how to dance the hula, but you can make up your own stories. Act them out with your hands, and move your body in a rhythmic pattern. Teach a few of your friends your newstyle hula, and put on a show for the neighborhood or your families!

Hernandez delivers win over A's in Mariners opener

OAKLAND, Calif. Felix Hernandez struck out eight on opening day in his first start since signing a $175 million, sevenyear contract in February, and the Mariners beat the reigning AL West champion Oakland Athletics 20 on Monday night.

King Felix surrendered one walk while pitching 7 23 scoreless nike free runs innings. He didn't allow a hit until John Jaso doubled to leftcenter with one out in the fourth, only a couple of hours after the pitcher gifted his former backstop with a Rolex watch for catching his perfect game in August against the Rays.

Hernandez (10) outdueled Brett Anderson while making his sixth career opening day start and fifth in a row, retiring the first 10 batters of the game in order.

Franklin Gutierrez hit a tworun single in the fifth to break a scoreless tie, and it held up for Hernandez.

He gave way to Charlie Furbush after allowing Seth Smith's twoout double in the eighth and a walk to Eric Sogard. Furbush walked Coco Crisp and Seattle manager Eric Wedge then went to Stephen Pryor, who got out of it on pinchhitter Derek Norris' groundout. Tom Wilhemsen closed out the threehitter.

There wouldn't be any walkoff magic in Game 1. Oakland led the majors with 14 such wins in 2012.

The Mariners snapped a sevengame losing streak to the A's, who had their secondlongest unbeaten run in the rivalry over the past 20 years behind a 15game winning stretch from April 7Aug. 16, 2006.

They are well accustomed to King Felix, who started the clubs' season opener in Tokyo last spring, then Seattle's home opener against the A's and again in Oakland's home opener.

Anderson struck out the side in order in the nike free run australia first on 13 pitches, getting Gutierrez on three pitches. Then Hernandez topped that in his first time off the mound with a sevenpitch, 123 inning.

Seattle hardly looked road weary after leaving the Arizona desert and spring training for an exhibition Saturday in Salt Lake City before a flight to cheap nike free run the Bay Area and a workout Sunday at the Coliseum. Hernandez delivered a signature performance as Seattle kicked off a sevengame road trip to start the season four games in Oakland followed by three against the White Sox before opening at Safeco Field on Monday against the Houston Astros.

Hernandez will try for career win No. 100 on Saturday in Chicago. The 2010 AL Cy Young Award winner, who turns 27 on April 8, certainly showed on Day 1 he is plenty stretched out by tossing 109 pitches.

Jaso, traded by the Mariners to their division rival during the offseason, popped out on the second pitch he saw in the first before his fourthinning double. Then in the sixth, he struck out swinging to end a 10pitch atbat and 22pitch inning for Hernandez.

About 90 minutes before first pitch, Hernandez had a Rolex watch delivered from a clubhouse employee to Jaso, quite the thankyou gift for his part in the ace righthander's perfecto.

The A's had their yellow towelwaving sellout crowd of 36,067 back in force just like last fall during the club's remarkable run to the playoffs. Oakland lost in Game 5 of the AL division series to Detroit.

Anderson (01) allowed two runs and four hits in seven solid innings, struck out six and walked four while throwing 108 pitches in his first career start on opening day. The lefthander successfully returned last August following a 14month recovery from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery.

Anderson struck out Michael Morse to start the second then walked Justin Smoak on five pitches. After Kyle Seager singled off Anderson's leg, Jesus Montero grounded into a double play on which second baseman Sogard made a terrific diving stop and backhanded flip to shortstop Jed Lowrie in time for him to throw to first.

The Bay Area awoke to gray clouds and a steady, hard rain, only for the skies to clear and turn blue.

More than four hours before first pitch, ballpark workers with handheld driers walked through the stands to clean up the seats while Seattle players ran around in right field throwing a football in shorts and Tshirts.

The Mariners, coming off a spring featuring a franchisebest 22 wins, began a season without Ichiro Suzuki for the first time in 13 years. He won the AL Rookie of the Year and MVP awards in 2001.

Notes: Hernandez has a 1.33 ERA with 41 Ks in his openingday outings 35 of those strikeouts in five opening starts vs. Oakland. He has allowed six earned runs in those appearances. . His six starts on opening day matched Randy Johnson for most in club history. . Anderson is 74 with a 1.83 ERA in 14 career starts against the Mariners. . Oakland invited 15 season ticketholders onto the field for pregame introductions. . The A's won the 2012 season series 127. If the recent pattern provides any indication, over the past seven seasons Oakland has won the even years 2006, 08, 10 and 12 and the Mariners the odd years of 2007, 09 and 11.

Shields entered just 29 with a 5.86 ERA

Kansas City vs Boston

BOSTON (AP) David Ortiz has been in the middle of some of Fenway Park's greatest moments. None of them seemed more important to Big Papi'' than his role in one Saturday afternoon.

Ortiz helped the Red Sox honor the victims and the survivors of the Boston Marathon bombings then played in his first game since last summer, a 43 victory over the Kansas City Royals capped by Daniel Nava's threerun homer in the eighth inning.

I try to take the positive side of things and ride with it,'' Ortiz said, camisetas de futbol sitting at a table in an interview room. But I wanted to camisetas futbol win this game badly.''

The Red Sox wore white home jerseys with Boston'' on the front instead of the customary Red Sox.'' The shirts will be auctioned off for a fund to support victims of the bombings.

Kansas City players and staff wore a B Strong'' patch on the front of their jerseys. Neil Diamond sang Red Sox favorite Sweet Caroline'' before the bottom of the eighth.

I think camisetas baratas de futbol today was different because we haven't been through what we've been camisetas de futbol baratas through this past week,'' Ortiz said. Driving around and looking around at people's faces, it was a very emotional day here just looking at those guys that were injured by those bombs going off and watching the news nearly every day, it was painful, very painful. Today I could see people opening their chest and letting it go.''

The 37yearold Ortiz injured his right Achilles tendon running the bases on July 17 and appeared just once in Boston's final 72 games, against the Royals on Aug. 24.

Ortiz was bothered by inflammation in both heels during spring training and didn't play in any exhibition games. He was 2 for 4 in his return, tying the score 1all with a sixthinning RBI single off James Shields.

Following the emotional pregame ceremony, the Red Sox won their sixth straight game four since Monday's bombings at the marathon finish line.

Knowing everything that went into the day for the city, for us to get the win, it came in a special way, special fashion,'' Nava said. It made it all that more important.''

Clay Buchholz (40) allowed eight hits in eight innings, struck out six and walked one. Andrew Bailey allowed Lorenzo Cain's leadoff homer over the Green Monster in the ninth, his fourth hit of the game, then got his third save when Alex Gordon hit a gameending groundout with two on.

Cain went 4 for 4 with the solo homer, but it wasn't enough to slow down the hot Red Sox.

Just a fantastic finish to an otherwise great day,'' Red Sox manager John Farrell said.

Cain even was moved by the pregame.

It was electric, man,'' Cain said of the ceremony. To go through that and see everybody getting into it and what this city went through, just to be a part of it was amazing.''

Shields gave up one run and four hits in six innings with eight strikeouts and three walks.

Buchholz extended his scoreless streak to 22 camisetas futbol baratas innings before Cain doubled in the fifth and scored on Jeff Francoeur's single.

Cain doubled leading off the seventh and scored on Salvador Perez's twoout RBI triple for a 21 lead. But Jonny Gomes doubled against Tim Collins starting the eighth and Dustin Pedroia walked. After Ortiz grounded into a double play, Kelvin Herrera (12) walked Mike Napoli on four pitches and Nava homered to right.

Herrera said it was a poorly thrown change up.

I left in the middle,'' he said. I paid the price.''

NOTES: Cain is 11 for his last 16. . Shields entered just 29 with a 5.86 ERA in his career in Fenway. . Boston OF Shane Victorino left the game with lower back tightness. Farrell said he twisted a little awkwardly trying to lay down a bunt.'' He'll be reevaluated (Sunday) morning. . Boston's starters have allowed three or fewer runs in all 16 games this season.

Anthony Gose received word Monday morning that he was headed from TripleA Buffalo to the Toronto Blue Jays, a move that left him pleasantly surprised. The team returns home to start a new series Monday against Tampa Bay. New York has now won eight of nine games this year against the Jays.

A Great Choice

Simon Nom Martins

Sports apparel from Nike seems scarpe nike air max to be the most popular around. They offer not only stylish apparel choices but also garments designed to give comfort and fit all the time. But the most popular of Nike's line of sports apparel are the shoes, particularly used in running. Shoes that both mimic and allow the foot its freedom to get things done in this case, walking, jogging and running.

Nike running shoes have become popular because it is the favored exercise program being followed by most people. Running has provided both excellent exercise and stress relief for most people. In order to get the most out of the sport in terms of fitness and comfort, it's important to have the right running gear that Nike can provide. Most of its shoes use much technology and research into its manufacture.

Nike Shoes is in the forefront of innovative nike air max technologies that eliminate fear element from trail runners' minds that otherwise are constantly haunted by the rough mountainous terrains, the forest route they run through without being able to concentrate on competition.

In 1983 the Nike shoe company released a plain white sneaker they trademarked the Nike Air Force One. These were a quality sneaker intended for sportswear sales, being introduced into a market where such footwear was gaining popularity. Initially the Air Force One shoe line was a plain white shoe available in either a low cut or a high top. In 1986 Michael Jordan was contracted for marketing and took to the courts wearing red and black Nike Air Force Ones, which have become a trademark shoe for him since that time. Almost over night the popularity of the shoe boomed.

The two main features that set Nike Air Jordan shoes series apart from other sneakers were in the design scarpe nike of the shoe itself, and in the logos printed on the shoes. The most unique feature of the Air Jordan line though was in the Nike Air technology. This allowed for a design that brought extra air into the sole of the shoe, creating a better cushion for the foot of the wearer. All of the Air Jordan shoes had this technology, but it became much more visible in the later lines. In these designs a squeezable shoe 'pump' was installed into the tongue of the shoe. By pressing the pump a buyer could change the firmness of the fit of the shoe, adjusting this for personal preference and maximum comfort.

going to settle for the dialogue that government

governor's race at Democratic National Convention 2012

As blearyeyed Democrats rolled into breakfast this morning following a night of partying, the buzz in the room focused less on President Obama and more on the 2013 New Jersey gubernatorial election.

"The early buzz from yesterday is that (Newark fitflop singapore Mayor Cory) Booker and (Elizabeth Mayor Chris) Bollwage are in early campaign mode," said Assemblyman Albert Coutinho (DEssex)

Making the scene is priority number one for hopeful 2013 candidates, so party activists can get used to the idea of a challenger to Gov. Chris Christie.

Booker has sponsored swag bags and Tshirts and is making a round of speeches before he addresses the Democratic National Convention Tuesday.

Too much presence can have its drawbacks, though. In the delegate book handed out to press and delegates, the Booker team misspelled the president's first name. "ReElect President Barak Obama," the ad read.

"Of note is the fact that Gov. Codey is not coming to this," Coutinho said of the Essex senator and former governor. Codey said his family had some medical issues that kept him away. Sen. Bob Menendez and the state congressional delegation back to Washington.

Sweeney also took a swipe at Gov. Chris Christie.

"New Jersey is a Democratic state, it's not a Republican state," he said. "We'll have a Democratic governor on 2013 because we're going to win in 2012 and 2013."

But it was Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver who roused delegates to their feet, with a speech fitflops decrying Republicans as throwbacks to another time and praising Democrats as the party of inclusion.

"We're not going to settle for the dialogue that government . is something that is unwanted," she said. "The citizens that I encounter in our state of New Jersey and all across this country want what the constitution guarantees, and what it guarantees is a government of the people, for the people and by the people. And that's what we're going to do, New Jersey Democrats, in Charlotte Thursday night!"
