The goal for the weekend is to find good homes for about 150 cats and dogs, said Gordon Simpson, store manager of PetSmart Terre Haute location.

Cats and dogs from Humane Society of Sullivan, Parke Vermillion County Humane Society, Terre Haute Humane Society and Dog It Dig It Rescue where Nike came from are available for adoption this weekend. They come in all sizes, breeds and ages.

PetSmart Charities, a not for profit organization, will also reward participating humane societies with a $35 in adoption reward grants for every pet adopted during the event.

More than 2,000 (animal welfare organizations) are on site this weekend at all 1,300

PetSmart stores in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico during National Adoption Weekend, according to a release.
