Baldwin's Hoiem impressive at Nike SPARQ Combine Bald Headed Truth

Baldwin sophomore Jordan Hoiem was a second team MIL All Star at linebacker in 2011 and his hit on a Punahou running back who caught a swing pass in the state semifinals and absolute demolition showed just how much promise this 6 foot 4, 207 pound prospect has. Hoiem showed more of that promise last weekend at the Nike SPARQ Football Combine in Honolulu when his total SPARQ score of 88.11 was 11th best out of 453 athletes at the event and the second best among the class of 2014. Hoiem ran a 4.88 second 40 yard dash, 4.35 in the shuttle run, had a vertical leap of 27.6 inches and had a 39.5 score on the power ball. Baldwin quarterback Keelan Ewaliko was 58th on the list with a total score of 72.00. Ewaliko, the two time MIL Offensive Player of the Year, was the third QB on the list. Other MIL players in the combine included King Kekaulike freshman Onosai Emelio, 94th overall and 11th best freshman; Lahainaluna junior Tytus Lucas, 152nd overall; Seabury Hall sophomore Jay Braun, 180th overall; King Kekaulike freshman Joshua Ogata, 247th overall; King Kekaulike junior Joshua Kahaikupuna, 300th overall; and Lahainaluna junior Jake Ryan, 334th overall. These measurements certainly aren't the be fitflop sale all, end all for high school football players, but they are numbers that college recruiters pay attention to. Players who didn't do as well as they wanted can show a LOT to recruiters at every level by improving their marks the next time they do this stuff.
