New Flip Flops Store For Manhattan Village

Flip Flop Express, one of the prime online flip flops and sandals retailers, will open a new seasonal store on Tuesday, June 1st, in the Manhattan Village Mall at 3200 Sepulveda Ave, Manhattan Beach, CA.

Manhattan Beach is a city located in southwestern Los Angeles County, California the city is on the Pacific coast, south of El Segundo, and north of Hermosa Beach. The area includes the Manhattan Village Mall, which is l ocated on the southeast corner of Sepulveda Boulevard and Rosecrans Avenue. The Manhattan Beach Country Club, the Marriott Hotel and Golf Course, restaurants, retail stores, supermarkets, and shopping centers are along the strip between the Manhattan Mall and Aviation Boulevard.

The mall is a haven for women. There is an Ann Taylor Loft, a Sephora, a Victoria's Secret, a Gap, a Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids. There's a jeweler, a Godiva, a Bath and Body Works, an Origins store and a gelato shop. There is a Chico's, a J. Jill, a Harry and David and two Macy's (one for women, one for men and home).

Natural tension between Beamer and London

London is 14 years younger, and following the 1995 season he interviewed for a job on Beamer's staff. London was an assistant to Jim Reid at Richmond, and Tech's outside linebackers coach and co defensive coordinator, Rod Sharpless, had resigned to become Rutgers' DC.

Beamer instead hired ACC veteran Jim Cavanaugh, who in the early 1970s spent a season each coaching at Newport News and Denbigh high schools.

London can only hope Virginia is as patient with him as Tech was with Beamer.

London and his staff have made a recruiting splash, most recently with the commitment of Phoebus defensive end Daquan Romero, but don't expect Beamer to be applauding his program's rival.

Asked about Virginia's recruiting success, Beamer steered the focus to the Hokies.

"We're going to do what we do," he said, "and that is, we've spent a long time building relationships with coaches here in the state. I think those guys know that they can trust us and that we will take care of their kids if they come to Virginia Tech and they are going to play at a high level.

"I think we worry about ourselves, how we do business and handle situations. I think t hat that is where our emphasis is, and we will continue to do the things we have done for a number of years here."

As for his personal relationship with London?

"I kind of know him," Beamer said . "I think he is certainly doing a good job and working hard at it. He's got a good staff. They have done a good job."

Nbc's Jason And The Argonauts

The NBC two parter is a mythic story teeming with rousing scenes of adventure, stirring romance and the typical overdose of special effects, a hallmark of Robert Halmi productions. Alas, coming less than a week from the final credits of ABC's Arabian Nights, it evokes a wearying sense of deja vu, compounded by the fact that Halmi also produced the ABC miniseries.

If sweeps months didn't necessitate t facebook he cramming of all such big ticket events into concentrated periods, these two epics could have been well separated, giving each a solitary platform to be fully appreciated.

One thing Jason does not do is bore. Except for the fact that it is NBC's practice to jam commercial breaks within six or seven minutes of each other during these expensive productions, there would not be many quarter hours without at least one ambitious action scene. The tone is set in the opening sequence, a battle royal employing what seems to be hundreds of extras.

Jason London gives it his best in the demanding title role but he lacks the depth, as well as the charisma, at this stage of his young career to be the commanding presence required.

A child actor named Mickey Churchill briefly plays Jason in the scene that sets the story into motion. The evil Pelias, coveting the throne of his brother King Aeson, storms the castle and slays Aeson in front of his son, young Jason. Pelias not only seizes the crown, he takes Jason's mother Polymele as his wife. His plan includes doing away with Jason, to eliminate any threat to his rule. However, a loyal captain of the guard, Mopsus, spirits Jason away before Pelias can do him harm. Dennis Hopper is under utilized as the diabolical Pelias.

London comes onto the scene as the story flashes ahead to Jason as a young adult aware of his birthright. A kindly deed for a stranger, the repercussions of which resonate throughout the story, becomes crucial to him finding a way to reclaim his throne.

King Pelias yearns for the storied Golden Fleece. Thinking it will provide him immortality, he is willing to do anything to obtain it. Jason uses Pelias's lust for the Fleece to have his death sentence put aside by promising to capture the prize for the king. The king is even willing to provide a state of the art ship, built by the masterful Argos, to facilitate Jason's mission.

There is one catch. If Jason doesn't come through within six months, Pelias will execute Polymele.

Jason recruits a crew including the super strong Hercules, the ministrel Orpheus, eagle eyed Zetes, the brilliant female archer Atalanta, who harbors a crush on Jason, and Acastus, the dubiously trustworthy half brother Pelias conceived with Polymele.

They embark on what is to be a fantastic voyage, during which they experience all manner of perils and challenges. As if their task isn't daunting enough, Jason incurs the wrath of Zeus, king of all gods.

When he isn't bedeviling Jason, Zeus and his wife, Hera, whose heads are literally in the clouds, amount to the comic relief. Zeus's ire stems from the special interest Hera takes in the dashing Jason. Zeus vows to increase t fitflop danmark he difficulty of every obstacle in Jason's path a thousandfold and he turns out to be a god of his word.

Even what seems to be a fortunate grounding on an island populated by nubile women turns into an exercise in terror.

Zeus isn't the only deity encountered. The Argonauts are attacked by Poseidon, the god of the sea, and comforted by Eros, the god of love. Jason develops a special relationship with Medea, a goddess assigned to guard the Golden Fleece.

Jason and the Argonauts would be the viewing highlight of almost any other month of the TV season. Unfortunately, May, when it is merely this week's sword and sandal show, isn't one of them. However, those who can't get enough of this type of spectacle will be richly entertained. The question NBC should have pondered when plotting its schedule should have been how many of these viewers are out there.

Ease your hand gently along the insole of the sagebrush bark fiber sandal in the University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History, and you can feel the imprint of a big toe in what may be the world's oldest existing example of footwear. T ask he sandal, found in Fort Rock Cave in central Oregon in 1938, may be 10,500 years old, and was worn by a native North American who lived in caves during the winter months and hunted in marshes in summer.

"These are the traces of human lives," says Tom Connolly, the museum's research director. "The worn heel pockets on the sandals; the charred pinpricks on the toe flaps allow you to put yourself at a fireside. There's the sense you get from an assemblage of sandals here, those big and worn, small and child size, those caked in mud, that allows you to see them as products of real human families: mom, kids, dad, grandparents."

Though humans may have wrapped their feet in skins earlier, Erik Trinkaus, an anthropologist at Washington University in St. Louis, says sturdy shoes originated between 40,000 and 26,000 years ago. Trinkaus studied the foot bones of Neandertals living 100,000 to 40,000 years ago, compared them with the more delicate foot bones of our ancestors living 26,000 years ago, and concludes that shoe wearers developed weaker toes because of the reduced stress and increased support footwear allows. From there, shoes evolved like stone tools and art, with other advances in human culture.

Bringing your old shoes with you can provide this information. A simple test to determine your foot type at home is to do a test by dampening your feet and stepping on a paper bag. If you can see most or some of your footprint, you likely have a low to average arch. If only the outside of your footprint is apparent, you likely have a high arch.
