accident raises questions cheap nike free

Deadly Payson accident raises questions about Ford recall

An Arizona family is speaking out about a horrific crash that claimed the life of their 17 year old daughter.

While no one knows for sure what caused the accident, ABC15 Investigators uncovered a risk most owners would never see and that could be hiding in countless other cars.

Seventeen year old Saige Bloom was driving when she lost control of her vehicle on a Payson, Arizona roadway. Her mother was following behind her and desperately called 911 looking for help. "She cannot stop. We're coming up to a red light and I don't know what to do for her," the mother frantically told the dispatcher. Shortly after that call, Saige hit another car and rolled three times. Hours later, Saige died of her injuries in a hospital bed. That was in January. Now, the ABC15 Investigators have discovered new information about the model of car Saige was driving when she lost control information involving repair instructions sent to dealers, but not owners. It raises the question that tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of cars on the road could have had an incorrect repair, including the car Saige was driving. BASKETBALL, CHURCH AND FAMILY Ryan Bloom beams as he talks about his daughter Saige. It's been just a few months since she died. "I just sit and think, I wish I could see her again," Bloom said. Ryan and his wife Jamie have three kids; Saige was their oldest. Bloom said his daughter loved going to church and to her youth group. She cared for people, he said, especially her nike air max outlet family. Saige was a star on the Payson High basketball team and Bloom remembers her talking about going to prom in the spring. After graduation, she wanted to enroll at Northern Arizona University and was looking for a car that could handle the snow. Since her grandmother offered to buy, Saige searched and quickly found her car: a white 2002 Ford Escape. Her dad checked it out and okayed the car. "She was like thank you daddy, thank you, thank you." Bloom pauses as tears fill his eyes. "That kind of hurts, you know?" SAIGE'S FIRST AND LAST DRIVE On January 27th, Saige was driving her new Escape to her home in Payson for the first time. She was following her mother as they drove north. But near Payson, something went terribly wrong. "Oh my God, my God, what do I do with her?" Jamie Bloom asked when she called 911 for help. She was watching as Saige drove ahead of her, speeding through town. The haunting 911 tapes reveal what happened next. "She was pushing on the brakes. I can smell it burning and she cannot stop," her mother told the dispatcher on the other end of the line. "Oh my God! She's in a wreck! She's in a wreck!" Police reports show Saige was traveling at high speeds through a busy area of Payson. She canada Nike Air Max 2012 was weaving in and out of traffic, according to the reports. Jamie called her husband. "I didn't expect the blood curdling screams over the phone," Bloom remembered. "Jaime was freaking out." Ryan immediately got in his car and drove toward the accident. "You know, when time stops and you just say 'God let her be okay,'" Bloom said. "That's what I kept telling myself the whole time." Police reports say Saige's SUV was weaving through traffic at rush hour that day.

Expert advice: What to do if your car won't stop After clearing the intersection of highways 87 and 260 and "narrowly air max canada [passing] through traffic" at the next intersection, police reports show the Escape hit a gray sedan and flipped three times. Saige was ejected from the car, where she lie on the street, bleeding and "struggling to breathe," the report said, until emergency crews took her to the hospital where she died. THE POLICE INVESTIGATION Payson police took the ABC15 Investigators to the Escape impounded in their lot, three months after the accident. The SUV sits in a corner, much of it in pieces. It will be covered with a tarp until tests are completed and the Escape can be released to the family and to the automaker, Ford Motor Company. Police reports show the car's accelerator was "all the way down to the floor," when the car was inspected after the accident. Officers also found that the console next to the accelerator pedal had "scratch marks in the plastic," that would "be consistent without someone slamming their foot on the gas pedal," the report said. The report further states that Saige "had Nike tennis shoes on" and that she must have "used some force to create those marks." The Blooms' attorney Bob Boatman believes Saige was, "kicking the pedal trying to dislodge it in her mind." The family is considering filing a

lawsuit against Ford. THE ABC15 INVESTIGATORS: SAFETY RECALL AND QUESTIONS ABOUT THE REPAIR Ford won't comment specifically about Saige's accident, and until the car is released and inspected, no one knows what caused it. But the ABC15 Investigators did find a safety recall involving the accelerator cable on 2002 2004 Ford Escapes including the one Saige drove

that day. In December 2004, Ford sent a recall notice to Escape owners, stating that the problem could cause "elevated engine speeds" and even a "vehicle crash." But, 10 months later, Ford sent out an update to that repair to dealers not Ford owners. In the documents sent to dealers, Ford writes that the reason for the update is "to inform dealers that updated illustrations and a warning have been added to the technical instructions to help prevent damage to the speed control cable while performing the accelerator cable replacement procedure." One attachment says "Caution" and shows a "CORRECT" and two "INCORRECT" illustrations involving removing the accelerator cable. The update went to dealers in October 2005, 10 months after the recall was first announced. Records show by that time, the majority of the Escapes affected 319,000 out of 470,000 had already been repaired. Those owners had their SUVs repaired for the recall without the new warning and instructions from Ford. Records show the Escape Saige Bloom drove to her death also had an accelerator cable recall repair before the new instructions went to dealers. "Anyone who sees this would say 'Oh, there's a problem here,'" he said. "If you were one of those nearly 300,000 owners, you may have gotten a bad repair and your life is at stake." In a statement to the ABC15 Investigators, Ford said it's "committed to informing our customers when any issues arise involving vehicle safety." Ford didn't explain how they discovered the incorrect repairs, but said the corrected repair bulletin only went to dealers. Ford also says it "can't comment on a specific accident without knowing all the details behind it." Read Ford Motor Company's full statement to the ABC15 Investigators Ditlow says Ford should have issued a second recall but Ford would not comment on why that didn't happen. Ditlow also blames the government agency responsible for investigating safety defects in motor vehicles, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), for not forcing a second recall. In fact, he says depending on the outcome of the investigation into Saige's accident, the Center plans to file a petition pushing NHTSA for a second recall on that model of Ford Escapes. NHTSA told the ABC15 Investigators that it is "aware of the crash that occurred in Payson, Arizona in January" and said that they "are monitoring the issue and will take action as warranted." Read NHTSA's full statement to the ABC15 Investigators LIFE WITHOUT SAIGE While Ford and Saige's family wait for her car to be released, Ryan tries to concentrate on the positives. He said Saige was somehow able to avoid injuring anyone else as her car sped out of control. And he told us that her organs were donated to five other people, giving them new life. "I have all her pictures sitting on the dresser," he said, "every time I walk into the room, just staring at her beautiful smile."

How to search for all safety recall documents involving YOUR car (you can also watch step by step instructions in the video attached above)

Carfax offers a free recall check that will tell you if your specific vehicle has an open recall, not just what recalls were issued for a year/make/model. But, there is a cost involved if you want your vehicle's full Carfax report.

Davis boys heading to cross country nationals

In fact, for most athletes, running is punishment. But for two local high school teams, running is the reward. And the efforts of the American Fork and Davis High boys cross country teams are earning them national recognition.

On Nov. 19, Nike held its annual Regional Cross Country meets, and not only did the Cavemen and Darts qualify for nationals, they finished in first and second place, respectively.

Coaches of both teams were pleased with how their teams ran, but they are also looking forward to seeing what they will do this Saturday at the Nike National Meet in Oregon.

It is the second time Davis has made the national meet and the nike air max outlet third time for the American Fork boys. In fact, two of the Cavemen's best runners will be making their third appearance at the national meet.

For the nationally ranked teams American Fork at No. 2 and Davis No. 3 the expectations are high.

"I think the pressure affected us a bit last year," said American Fork head coach Timo Mostert. "We've talked a lot about that. Clayton (Young) and Mac (Morrison) have been there twice before. So we can talk about what works and what doesn't work."

Fluctuating in the rankings has been a good thing mentally.

"They realize that (rankings) are what other people think and they are not really who we are," he said. "We're just going to do what we've done all year have fun and race fast."

Young, a senior, finished highest of the Utah runners with a third place finish. His teammate Brayden McLelland was fourth, and Morrison, who won the 5A state individual title last month, finished in fifth place.

Davis High School's Brad Nye, who finished second in the 5A state cross country meet, finished sixth in the regional meet and will lead the Davis team looking to keep pace with their in state rivals.

"Last year, we were just happy to be there," said Davis head coach Corbin Talley. "This year, this is the race we've been training for, and our goal all year has been to finish in the top five."

With less than two weeks between the regional meet and the national meet, both coaches said they focus on staying healthy and mental toughness.

"It's got to be more of a mental race," Talley said. "We'll try to get air max canada ourselves feeling right on that day. We're all healthy so that's a godo thing . We do hope we run a smart race. I felt we ran hard in Arizona, but not our smartest race."

Both coaches said the runners look forward to the experience because Nike treats them so well, providing them with shoes, uniforms, food and the chance to compete against the country's best.

"They get to meet Olympians," said Talley. "The whole weekend is amazing for these kids. We're just going to go and enjoy it."

Mostert said his runners are just enjoying a little more affection from their classmates.

"It's nice to be recognized at school for them being the accomplished athletes that they are," Mostert said. "The weekend is incredible. Nike caters to them like rock stars."

It's quite an accomplishment for Utah to qualify two teams as they competed against 30 squads from five states.

The other members of the American Fork team competing are: Connor McMillan, Tyson Green, Zac Jacklin, and Dallas Griswald.

The other members of the Davis team are: Preston Johnson, Brayden Cromar, Skylar Williams, Logan Wood, Alex Hedquist, and Jackson Sagers.

Three girls qualified individually Summer Harper, Orem High, finished second overall. And three Ogden High runners qualified and will compete at nationals as individuals Sarah Feeny, a sophomore who finished in fifth place; Jamie Stokes, a senior who finished in sixth place; and Jordan Cross, a junior canada Nike Shox Turbo who finished ninth.

Clyde Moore

I'm going to admit something from the start I'm excited about doing this. I've done a weekly column at other points in my life, but I have especially big hopes for this one. While we're getting things started talking much too much about me, that's to let you know some about who I am. This is meant to be about you, about our neighbors, about the wonderful community we are fortunate to call home. Alas, when you're a CEO Chief Everything Officer priorities are made and that was one thing that was a bit too much too soon, and it got sidelined. I regretted that because it was at a time when I'd just concluded two wonderful interviews, which now seem the ideal bookmarks for what I hope this new effort will be about.

The first was a personal tour of Winter Park treasure Casa Feliz with Assistant Director Angela Roark. I remember the first time I saw that home the first weekend we visited the city. I thought it must be an exclusive club, some place you must pay a steep membership to enjoy. I LUV that that is not the case, that it's most often open to anyone and everyone. I LUV old homes for their character, the canada Nike Shox R6 stories they tell. Not all older homes can or should be saved, but when one such as Casa Feliz is saved, when it's the community coming together that makes the difference, to me that says a lot about that community. It says a lot that's good.

That house makes my soul do a little dance. That it was created with stories in place such as the "remnant columns" in back proves the genius behind its design had a similar perspective. That it was nearly lost before a community came together on its behalf, endured all required to move it across the street that is now its best story.

I realized early on that Winter Park is the kind of community in which people often spend their entire lives, or only leave to air max canada return later. You read a lot of stories about communities that must work to retain residents, incent them to stay. Here, the community itself is incentive enough. I sometimes wonder what it would have been like to grow up here, and feel a bit jealous of those who did.

The other bookmark helping to set the stage for what I hope this space can be about each week is just such a resident. I'm not even certain how I came to know about Matt Anderson and his Enlightened Grain spirit company. I think it may have been nike air max via Facebook. Then, one night while having dinner at Hannibal's, I noticed an "EG" logo on the back of a shirt. The result was ordering what was the absolute best mojito I've ever had. This from a rosemary and lavender spirit. No, I didn't figure that one.

I thought the story of a guy who started a spirits company out of a tub in his garage sounded like fun. What I found instead was one of the most serious and intelligent 'kids' terminology used about 20 somethings once you get over 40 I'd ever met. He explained to me how he'd designed the EG logo with inspiration from the Nike swoosh, and I sat at that bar and easily picked out each and every EG bottle among hundreds and hundreds.

Casa Feliz and Matt Anderson may have never appeared together in the same sentence. But for me, they are roughly two ends of a spectrum of individuals, groups and other entities I've begun referring to as "Parkpreneurs", all contributing to making Winter Park the wonderfully unique and charming community it is, and that we all enjoy.

I'm looking forward to meeting new neighbors, hearing your stories and feedback. I think this is going to be fun. Pretty sure I'm gonna LUV it.

Running Shoes cheap nike free

Choosing Running Shoes

Are you wearing the right shoe?I spent two years selling running shoes and came to learn how the right shoe will help you get the most out of your workout! It is also important to prevent injury. People who walk instead of run will benefit from wearing the same types of shoes. Running shoes are designed for forward motion (versus cross trainers where you move in different directions like in tennis). Wearing a running shoe for walking will provide you with the same and much needed benefits.

Many people don't know that they have different needs in their running shoes. You can spend $160 and still be wearing the wrong shoe. Yes, higher priced products tend to have better technology and features but it is not a guarantee. Also, finding last season's color in a shoe for 50% off the original price is an easy way to save!

If you have a very high arch, a flat foot, pain or discomfort, or the fit is just not right you may be wearing the wrong shoe. Get fitted at a store by an associate who is not paid on commission. Asics, Mizuno, Saucony, New Balance and Nike are reputable brands with great products. However, just because it is a name brand nike air max does not mean it meets your needs or is the best shoe in the market.

Start by looking at your feet. Wet the bottom of your foot and take a few steps. Look back at the water marks. If there is a large gap in the water mark where your arch would be, you have a medium or high arch. If you have a flat foot, the water mark will show where your arch is touches the ground.

For those with higher arches, a cushioned running shoe is usually recommended. Those with flat feet need extra stability. Leave room at the end of your toe. A small thumb's width usually works. We often fit children with larger sizes so they can grow into them, but this is not the best way to fit adults. If your toe touches the end of the shoe, it is too small. Your feet may swell when you work out.

Stability (motion control) running shoes provide extra support in the arch area with a more dense material in the sole. This does not mean the inside of the shoe will have a high, uncomfortable arch. The shoe will prevent you from rolling your foot inward called over pronation.

Cushion shoes help assist those with very high arches from rolling their ankles and feet outward. Sometimes the insole provides a higher arch feel inside the shoe.

Neutral runners are those with no problems with rolling their feet in or out, and can wear a variety of shoes.

Shop for the right running shoeYou can identify a shoe with stability in some cases very easily. These shoes often have a different color on the material of the sole (like a grey) where the arch or heel area are on the inside of the foot. Labels on products may help, but store associates can be your best resource while shopping.

Everyone has different needs. If you feel you need to see a doctor about your concerns related to arthritis or pain in your legs or feet, please do. Shoes come in different widths. When you get measured at a store, your width will be determined as well. We are inclined to go up a size if a shoe is sung on the sides. If this is the case, you may just need a wider shoe. Widths range from very narrow such as AA and very wide such as EEE. For women, regular width is a B. For men the standard width is a D.

Between brands, each air max canada running shoe that address a special need will be around the same price level. If you were to rate support levels as 'medium', 'high', and 'extra high' the prices will relate. For example: Asics and Brooks both offer a high stability shoe for around $90 price, and they have similar benefits. The difference between brands is the fit. Some brands may have a shape that fits your foot better. There may not be many similarities in benefits between a $50 running shoe and a $100 running shoe (unless the $100 shoe was 50% off in an end of season sale!).

I have found the best places to shop are those with knowledgeable associates. These include places like Academy, Dick's Sporting Goods, Hibbett Sports, and brand stores like New Balance. In stores such as Foot Locker, the associates are more focused on fashion and I have not have the best experiences. Warehouse or discounters are great if you know what type of shoe you need and can shop by yourself.

Nike + iPod Shoe Pedometer Sensor for Running Product Review

Dr. Scholl's Custom Fit Orthotics Footmapping Machine In Local Stores

Dr. Scholl's Footmapping kiosk in stores so you can have a machine to recommend the correct custom insoles.

Differences between brandsNike running shoes with air pockets on the bottom will pop if you step on something sharp. This feature makes shoes with large air bubbles a poor choice for trail running. Mizuno running shoes are knows for their "wave plate" technology. This wave plate runs length wise in the shoes and is flexible to absorb shock. This is a similar theory to what you may think the Nike Shox do. Nike Shox are designed for neutral runners. If you over pronate and wear Nike Shox you can risk injury in the ankle or knees. Mizuno uses 'wave plate" technology win combination of support materials for the stability running shoes. Nike does have stability shoes as well and many of these include a small air pocket for cushion in the sole as well as the denser material in the sole for support.

Asics running shoes use a gel substance (similar to Dr. Scholl's) for cushion in the shoe. This material absorbs shock and adds cushion in their products. Books running shoes use a plastic pocket of liquid material in the sole for cushion. This material is virtually indestructible and will last the longest in my opinion. Brooks also pride themselves in extremely durable out soles (the bottom) on their shoes which are made out of the same material as tires. The Asics brand have the softest in sole. As in soles wear out it becomes necessary to replace them over time. When you first slip a shoe on, the softness you feel is the insole.

The Saucony brand utilizes a patented "grid" design. This is a grid of woven wire looking plastic pieces that absorb impact and provide cushion. Think of it like a woven trampoline but not as bouncy and a wider weave. Many other brands of running shoes exist and are great as well. Try on each type to see which feels best. New Balance running shoes also use a soft material for softness and are most widely known for offering an assortment of widths in many stores. Protect identity of yourself and your family by just being aware of common scams.

Look for running shoe salesWhen you find a style and size that is right for you, look for the sales on running shoes. Each season there are canada Nike Air Jordan 6 color updates and model 7 may now be replaced with model 8 of the same shoe. For your first time shopping you do want to get fitted. Your size may not be the same as the dress shoe size you usually wear.

JCPenney honors coupons online, Academy sports had 50% off .88 ending shoes in stores for some sales, and Finish Line always has some models on their clearance rack.

Do look online. Some retailers show their inventory online that may be out of stock in a store. When you place an order it is from a warehouse in stock or is shipped from a store that does have the inventory.

Color or style may not be as important as fit and benefit. Do you want the pink pair that is full price because they are cute? Find the same style in another color that is less attractive and it may be on sale and decide how important the color really is. The discount you get on your shoe may be a bigger deal.

Nice hub

I've always found Saucony shoes best fit my feet. Particularly their Jazz model which I must have owned in 5 different guises throughout years of running. They fit me well but not everyone. I find their grid system maintains stability long term around the mid foot.

Children excluded cheap nike free

Children excluded from school shopping

Anyone who has taken their kids back to school shopping knows how hard it can be to resist pleas for a Dora the Explorer folder or a Lightning McQueen lunchbox. But this year, some parents have been testing a new strategy: leaving the little ones at home.

Parents are being squeezed by stagnant wages and rising costs, not to mention a growing list of classroom supplies that teachers request they buy. But kids want the Nike shoes and Abercrombie Fitch tees they see in ads every day; never mind the cost. They also don't like to be dragged from store to store while their parents comparison shop. As a result, only 56 percent of parents say they're bringing their kids along for back to school shopping this year, down from 80 percent last year, according to marketing data firm America's Research Group.

"One of the best ways to save money is to do the shopping and bring it home and say, 'Here are your back to school clothes,'" says ARG president C. Britt Beemer. "When children are along, pleasing them and avoiding a tantrum is an easier choice than trying to say 'no way.'"

Gayle Strickland Jones, who lives in Middletown, Del., decided to handle the back to shopping this year without her children after her ten year old son pleaded for an $8 pair of titanium scissors at Staples just because they were cool. On a solo trip, she ended up buying a $3 basic pair of scissors at Walmart instead.

Similarly, Jones, who works at DuPont, was canada Nike Shox Turbo able to save money on purchases for her daughter. Last year, Jones bought her seventh grade daughter a new backpack with polka dots, so this year, the girl nike free outlet requested that all her school supplies be in zebra print. As a compromise, Jones picked up a two pack of zebra print erasers for $1.

Ultimately, shopping without the kids saves Jones money, which is important since her husband was laid off from his sales job earlier this year. She spent just $75 on school supplies this year much less than she says she spent last year and even less than if the kids had been with her.

"They would not only be pickier but wanting things they don't necessarily need," Jones says about shopping with her kids.

To be sure, children have always bugged their parents to buy unnecessary doodads. A generation ago, kids begged their parents for Legos and My Little Pony after watching commercials for the toys during Saturday morning cartoons. But that was the extent of their brand exposure.

Now, kids are being marketed to on several digital channels from the time they can talk. In total, companies spend roughly $17 billion per year advertising to kids, up from $100 million in 1983, according to the nonprofit group Campaign for a Commercial Free Childhood. And children under eight are the most susceptible to marketing because they interpret ads literally, not understanding that the intent is to drive sales.

"If you show it to kids enough, they're going to want it," says Sandra Calvert, director of the Children's Digital Media Center at Georgetown University.

That's put a new level of pressure on parents at a time when they're looking to spend conservatively in the down economy. The average family with kids in grades kindergarten through 12 plans to shell out $604 for clothes, school supplies and electronics this year, down slightly from $606 last year

But in a 2011 back to school shopping survey by market research firm Kelton Research, most parents said that, more often than not, their kids push them to buy certain products or brands. And almost one in two parents said they feel pressure to buy the highest quality or costliest items for their children.

"When I was a kid, I used to pester my parents for name brand shoes, but I had much less access and I was much less marketed to," says Gareth Schweitzer, president of Kelton Research, adding that now it's "harder for parents to save money."

Gina Lincicum, a stay at home mother of an eight year old boy and five year old twins, says it's tough to keep a budget in check when shopping with kids. So this year, she's decided to order her children's clothing online, then have them try it on at home, where they won't be tempted by more expensive duds. "I'm like, 'Wait a second, you have enough t shirts to get you through two years."

Sue Werle took a similar approach when she decided to exclude her four children ages 2 to 8 from back to school shopping trips.

Werle, who lives in Sherwood, Ore., opted to buy most of her kids' school supplies online because she could take her time and ensure she was getting the lowest price a feat that she says is impossible when she brings the kids to the store because they are impatient and want a lot of unnecessary things. For instance, her eight year old son insists on Skechers brand air max canada shoes, which can run between $36 and $60 in his size.

"It's hard when you know those Hot Wheels pencils are just really cool," says Werle, who opted for very basic school supplies, but decided to allow each child to pick out one bigger, special item, like a backpack or pair of shoes. "But when you're trying to stick to a budget, you have to go, 'What's going to matter to my child in the long run that they have a cool backpack or the pencil that in two weeks is going to be lost, broken or chewed on?'"

Laura Train decided to do her back to school shopping without her kids even knowing. Train, who works for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore County, picked up school supplies at Target while her two children were out of town in Texas this summer.

Between clothing and supplies, she budgeted $500 for both kids and so far she hasn't gone over. But her kids are at an age 11 and 14 that she didn't feel comfortable buying everything without their input. Train did her best, though, getting basic, inexpensive items in colors she thought they would like. She even picked up one item for her daughter that wasn't on the list.
